Starting the 10k road

Starting the 10k road

If you have followed my blog for some time you would have seen my previous posts on my journey at the beginning of this year to run a 5k which you can read here aaronsserver.co.uk/covid-5k/

With that now in the past and after a few successful 5k runs and a 2 month hiatus and finally a reminder from my Aunt that we have signed up to do a 10k in Feb next year. Training has once again begun.

Monday I set out with my phone in hand after not running for 2 months and attempted week 1 of the 10k training plan, which consisted of a 5 minute warm up walk, then: jog for 10 min; walk for 1 (Repeat 4 times)

It was a weird feeling to be running again after such a gap, but strangely my body knew what it was expected to do and even though my speed has reduced in that absence, I did not need to stop so I am super happy and it gave me the boost I needed to feel like I could do this. Below is my Strava run report and if you want to follow me on there you can. :) ย

So what is the 10K I am running?

I will be running the London Winter Run on the 5th Feb 2023 on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

Our family has been struct by Cancer like many of across the world. I survived my battle with ALL in 2013 and our family member Ben sadly lost his battle in 2021 and did not get to see his 18th Birthday.

We know what the impact of great treatment and research can do to those battling cancer and we want to raise as much money as humanly possible to help Cancer Research make sure no one has to deal with the sadness and the damage cancer can do to those who fight it and the families that are by their side.

If you would like to show your support you can donate here https://www.winterrun.co.uk/fundraisers/aaronrackley/

I will continue to post updates on my instagram https://www.instagram.com/aaron_rackley/ along with tongs of doggie photos and create various blog posts about the experience.

All the best

Aaron
